Mimi and Bee is a family run business. My name is Dawn. When I was about 5 years old I remember watching my grandmother making toys and I was fascinated. I very quickly learnt to hand sew and would love nothing better than to make my Sindy dolls a new outfit. It wasn't until I was in my 20s before I learnt to sew on a sewing machine. It started out of necessity, making my children's clothes in fact, but I was soon hooked. A few years ago I started a small handmade clothing business and up until recently made ladies skirts.

I love everything about fabric, the feel of it, the colours! I think I love the whole experience of choosing and buying fabrics even more than making clothes and so it was a natural progression for me to start selling fabric. Recently I found out that one of my ancestors owned a haberdashery and whilst I found this a little freaky I am wondering whether the love of fabric is in my DNA!🤣

When I buy fabric I always feel like I have bought a present for myself and I hope that you feel the same when you receive your order from us.
